A few months ago Glenn Prangnell was invited by Mare Rozzelle to write the music to some songs for a play she’d written called ‘New York Letters’. The songs were to be based on some (fictional) letters written and received by John Lennon, during the last few years of his life. The play was to be a musical ‘imagining’ of the years 1972-80 and Mare had written not only the play but also the lyrics. All she needed was the music, which she asked Glenn to provide, along with any other ideas and suggestions he might have.
In this episode, Glenn talks to Mare about the genesis of the project, working on the recordings and discusses each track on the album, which will be released during the summer of 2022.
